200w ps with 9800 Pro

I am buying an IDEQ 210v sff, but it comes stock with a 200w ps and I want to put the 9800 Pro in it. I have heard different stories from different people who say that it does/doesn't work with a ps like that so I am not sure what to believe.

Does anyone here have any experience with it? Anything I need to know? Was there anything special that needed to be done to get it to work.

I think ATI recommends at least a 300W PSU to go with that card. I guess it could still work, depending on your system... still, a better PSU is highly advised :)
 
I have a Shuttle XPC with a 200 W psu. If the psu is comparable, then you should be fine. I am currently running a 9800 pro without a problem. And I know someone else who's running a 6800 gt on a sff 200W psu.
 
I hear the shuttle PSUs are rated different...not sure at all though....

But it all depends on your systems (amount of ram, type of cpu and everything else)

Also it depends on the amps on the PSU...

But try to get 250W-350W

I'm sorry. It's presonal experience. You can give it a try of course, but if you see some black screens you'll know your problem.
 
Im running an Ideq to and have had no probs. Used to have a 9700 Pro and the 9800 Pro is working just fine. Check the sig
 
Was there any special wiring you needed? I read about one guy who needed a 12v extension on it to get it to fit in the ideq. I know I am going to be impatient, so I wont want to wait when I get it!

Nope It pretty much drops in and works. Oh and it seems to run MUCH cooler then the 9700 Pro did. Was gonna get the 6600GT for my Ideq, but the 9800 Pro is fine. Haven't tried to OC it in the Ideq yet, but it hit XT speeds in my Main Rig. A friend of mine got an AIW 9800 Pro in his Ideq for about a year now and it's been fine. Only issue is that his can't OC at all, Dunno if its the Ideq or the fact that it needs the extra voltage for the AIW part.

I have never been much of a gamer since I used to not be able to afford a good computer of my own, and I wasn't a big fan of playing games by myself. That said, I am getting a new 23" HP L2335, and it would be a crying shame if I didn't play some counter stike on it. Looking forward to the 9800, its getting me all giddy -- like Bob dole on Viagra.

And if anyone reading this is at Yale, and has a lan pary every once in awhile let me know!
