I’m not the world’s biggest fan of Jeep but I have to say that the Halo fan in me just loves this concept car.

The motor's electron supply comes from a lithium ion battery pack, this time sized for a forty one mile range. Further miles are covered supplied by a small Bluetec diesel driving a generator for a combined 110 mpg rating.

Looks really tight. :D

The million dollar questions are if it's going to see the light of day on the showroom floor, and if so how big of a dent it's going to make in your bank account...

I'm a huge jeep fan.

My first vehicle was a Jeep wrangler. That thing got me into and out of so much trouble.:D
They are built like tanks. I've hit stop signs when its icy, the jeep ripped the sign out of the ground. Hit a 2 foot diameter rock square on the differential case when I was off-roading. It chipped the rock, didn't even dent the differential casing. Bone stock that jeep could off-road better than my friends' small trucks with upgraded suspensions. I was usually the one pulling everyone else out of the mud, yet I never once had to upgrade. The only thing that stopped it was a big-ass oak tree that I hit square on at 30 mph.

That being said, I couldn't stand the sub 15mpg. If jeep could build a decent hybrid, I would be all over it. The Ford Ranger I'm driving now can't even compare.

Concept = Look at how cool of a vehicle we COULD make but never will. If it was a computer component it would be called vaporware but it's a car so it's a concept.

+1. It'll never be made to that degree. My next ride will be an '08 Wrangler. :D

It's a shame, but these concept cars never make it to production.Somewhere between the design room and the show room, someone always screws it up.:(

Peugeot did a (significantly better, imo) concept several years ago:

Hoggar

I would love to see anything produced by Peugot ever come as close to as rugged as a jeep. I'm not saying they couldn't, I just don't think they ever would.

Also of note: Peugot is the primary manufacturer of all the shitty transmissions put in Jeep's during the late 80's and early 90's, the infamous Peugot 5 speed BA 10/5.;)

Those car shows are actually quite depressing. You go see all these amazing looking cars, but they end up making things like the Aztec.

I don't know what jeep is like now, but the experiences I had with my friends' mid and late 90s Wranglers vs my CJ5 made me wonder whether jeep knew how to make anything other than jacked up minivans and were the reason I didn't buy a new wrangler when the 5 finally kicked the bucket.

I'm usually of two minds on showing concept vehicles. I'm for it because ti shows the creative aspect of what the car designers envision for the vehicles themselves and what cutting edge systems they can bring together and generate some level of excitement about the car itself. I'm against it because I so love the radicalized futuristic looking concepts that I personally wish they would actually build them as they look like the concept. Not necessarily use the expensive technologies, but just the aesthetic portion of the concept to use as a selling point. It's so disheartening to see an awesome looking concept and then when it actually does make it into production it looks almost nothing like it's concept and that's very disappointing.

The jeep concept looks cool, but it will never look like that in production and that's a shame because if it did, it would be flying out of the showroom floors.
