Yesterday, I received my Dell 2007WFP and I plugged to my computer with the provided DVI cable. With the PC running, when I select DVI input, it always fall in sleep mode since there is no signal from the computer to feed the port. When I plugged the VGA cable to my computer, it works fine.

Since I didn't have too much time to mess yesterday and I'm now at work, I'm writing this to ask for possible causes. I'm using it with a XFX 7900GS who have 2 DVI ports (both doesn't work). What would be the cause of this and a possible fix ?

Some things I would try before calling for an rma are:

1. try using the same DVI cable with another monitor and see what happens
2. try a different DVI cable on the Dell
3. uninstall/reinstall or try different videocard drivers

In addition to posting this, I googled around and from what I see (Honestly, i'm a complete n00b when it come to DVI connection as I never used it before), DVI should normally work fine when connected, much like a VGA cable.

Your suggestions make sense and it happen to have a bunch of DVI cables at work, pulled from the 1707FP and 1907FP I installed around since all computers has VGA only. I will bring 2 home and do testing to see if it works. If not, I will also have a different DVI video card to test as well. However, I doubt it's the video card because it only have 2 DVI ports and to use VGA, I need to use a adapter and it works fine in this case.

I hope I don't need to RMA it for such a good S-IPS panel :(

Since you are well within the 21 days "satisfaction guarantee" then the good news is that they will cross-ship a new panel (not refurb) to you at no cost. If you got an S-IPS then most likely you will recieve the same in a new one because it will come from the same distribution center.

After some more fiddling, I'm now typing with the 2007WFP in DVI mode. I had to power everything down completely, rearrange the connections to remove the VGA then pray it works after starting up and it does indeed. I guess it was struck in VGA mode and DVI isn't initialized yet.
