2007 Post Your Workstation

Just moved back into uni & bought a second desk (the one on the right), so now I have much more space for all my stuff & to work.

View from the bed.

Network front-end. The university network runs 802.1x authentication & requires you to register the MAC address of every machine you want to connect, so the back machine is a Win 2k box with dual NICs acting as an ICS Gateway, plugged into the 10/100 switch on top. Any machine I plug into the switch behind the gateway doesn't have to bother with either MAC registering or 802.1x. The smaller machine in front is a NAS running FreeNAS (FreeBSD). The bulk on the left is a HP LaserJet 4 M Plus, which I will at some point share through the Win 2k gateway box.

My workstation for gaming, video conversion & Photoshop.

Thinkpad where I do all my uni work & most Internet-ising, Shuttle which acts as a media machine (just ordered a new 320GB external HDD for storing FLAC), & on the windowsill is my Dreamcast with VGA adapter which plugs into the far left CRT & a set of Loigitech Z220s, & my gorgeous 1970's Aurex amplifier. (Ive actually got another identical unit coming in the post as a backup, as well as a new tuner).

Just to clarify the monitor arrangement - the dual Flatrons on the right are plugged into the black machine on the floor, the 17" CRT is plugged into the Shuttle, the gateway box & NAS box run headless, & the far left CRT is the Dreamcast.

Specs of all machines in my sig (gimme 5 minutes to update it!).

Cyron1,

How is that Acomdata external harddrive? Fry's has a decent deal on them right now. Quality? Speed?

Thanks

dab., do you always maintain your remotes so clean like that? :D Or just a setup for the picture heheh.

Haha, actually the remotes and my room are always that clean. I plan on getting the Logitech Harmony 360 remote soon so I won't even have to worry about organizing remotes.

Its the Galant series from Ikea. I like it, it big and open

Thank you sir...I've been looking at those, and when you actually get to see it in use, you can really see the size...I may be getting either that set or the jerker soon.

The MozartTx is great, yeah that is a TT Tower 112, but it's tiny compared to the Tuniq Tower 120 I installed the other day.

Thanks, I like it too, reminds me of my NES days, never did get that thing working right though.

Im not familiar with the jerker, Ive had this desk for a year now and I love except for it accumulates all my crap. but then again so does everything else. There are more pics on pg 6 of the 06 workstation gallery.

Goddammit!! Stop quoting images!!! It's in the rules, and besides that it's just common fucking courtesy.. We've all seen the original post, and once is enough.

I quoted the image because its WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. Its a few pages behind, so if I didn't use the image, people wouldn't know what i'm talking about. I myself hate image-quoting spam, but I had to so people knew what I was friggin' talking about.

Ahem. Ok, see the little red arrow that appears next to the original posters name in the quote box? Why don't you try clicking it and see what it happens??

Yep, it automagically takes you DIRECTLY to the original post, complete with the originally attached images! No need to quote images, ok?

All so on the image quoteing you have to think everytime you load that guys pic its eating at his bandwidth if he is hosting it himself.

Wolfgang: Sure it is. It's an old IBM M Type and still works.

Haha I've got 3 of them and they're amazing...

I like my stuff neat and un cluttered.

The movable small part of the dest that has the headphones is perfect for stacking loads of coke and CC's for those long gaming sessions. ;)

Theres also a Panasonic 900E Projector mounted on the ceilingthat projects to the wall just above the screen.

LOVE the Silver Surfer statue. If it came on a chrome/polished base I was get one in a heartbeat!

i cant get over just how HUGE the Mozart tx is. what all do you have in it?

Wow that's hot. Love the SN26P. I can't believe I sold my SN25P for this ton of metal. But then again, kind of worth it for expanding I guess.

What kind of iPod dock is that, was wondering about the external HD, very slick. I might actually pick up another Shuttle just because I saw your pic lol.

The Nano dock is from a Company called SwitchEasy called KuroDock. Here's the link: http://www.switcheasy.com/kurodock.htm
