Just moved back into uni & bought a second desk (the one on the right), so now I have much more space for all my stuff & to work.
View from the bed.
Network front-end. The university network runs 802.1x authentication & requires you to register the MAC address of every machine you want to connect, so the back machine is a Win 2k box with dual NICs acting as an ICS Gateway, plugged into the 10/100 switch on top. Any machine I plug into the switch behind the gateway doesn't have to bother with either MAC registering or 802.1x. The smaller machine in front is a NAS running FreeNAS (FreeBSD). The bulk on the left is a HP LaserJet 4 M Plus, which I will at some point share through the Win 2k gateway box.
My workstation for gaming, video conversion & Photoshop.
Thinkpad where I do all my uni work & most Internet-ising, Shuttle which acts as a media machine (just ordered a new 320GB external HDD for storing FLAC), & on the windowsill is my Dreamcast with VGA adapter which plugs into the far left CRT & a set of Loigitech Z220s, & my gorgeous 1970's Aurex amplifier. (Ive actually got another identical unit coming in the post as a backup, as well as a new tuner).
Just to clarify the monitor arrangement - the dual Flatrons on the right are plugged into the black machine on the floor, the 17" CRT is plugged into the Shuttle, the gateway box & NAS box run headless, & the far left CRT is the Dreamcast.
Specs of all machines in my sig (gimme 5 minutes to update it!).
