2005fpw widescreen res?

This is a huge problem to me.... all LCD's support normal resolutions and other res's that scale to size, but the 2005fpw only has one widescreen res which is 1680x1050. Am I missing something or does it have a 1280x800 res which would be the next correct res/ratio that will scale to size? I find it really disturbing that it doesn't have this support or that i cant find it...
 
Yea it does 1280x1024 but you're forced to stretch the image disproportionatly if you want it to be full screen. What I was expecting is a widescreen res that would scale to stretch "proportionatly" on all sides to fill the screen just like non-widescreen resolutions do. You kinda see what I'm saying? 1280x800 would scale all 4 sides the same way as to not seem distorted, but possibly loss in overall quality whereas 1280x1024 scales only the horizontal.. making it look distorted.
