2005FPW vs 2007FPW

so is it worth getting a 2007FPW over a 2005FPW?

only thing i can see would be maybe the HDCP, but i'm sure someone will release a crack for HDCP within 30 seconds of the first HD-DVD hitting the market so thats really a non-issue to me at this point.

I'm willing to bet it may be a faster/different panel, besides, HDCP is built into Vista. I'd rather not have to hack my OS to watch a DVD if it can be avoided by buying a monitor that supports the technology if I have the chance to.

dont mean to sound like a dink here but you are the first person Ive heard willing to spend money (quite a bit too) to get that crap working. That HDCP crap is only there to keep an honest man honest, those who want to bypass it will. Its really only there to make companies money and hassle the shit out of honest pple.

Who cares about the politics of it? You can fight the fight. I just want xXxX to work. It's already mandated for HDTV manufactured after July 2005. I also haven't heard anything about it adding to the cost of the monitor.

I've been waiting for HDCP too. No sense in buying a monitor only to find it will have limitations in a year or so.

Seems like a lot of people are just pissed that they can't copy DVDs (unless a crack pops up). :)
 
I'm pretty sure there is about ZERO info out about the 2007FPW, and definetly not enough for people to comment on it vs the 2005.

If you just heard a rummor about the 2007, then it's just a rummor. If you have a real source for specs on the 2007fpw, plz share.
 
i'll just stay with the 2005FPW

its most likely cheaper at least for the first year, and i'm sure some 1337 h4x0r will crack the HDCP within hours of its inception so that doesn't bother me at all.

hell, i never watch DVD's that havn't been ripped anymore since they package them with forced adverts that you can't skip ... even ones that i own.

I think the HDCP standard in already out there. It's already on HDTVs and, unlike other encryption standards, Intel went ahead and made it publicly available. It's just not on DVDs yet. So if someone is inclined to develop a crack, I think they can get started.
