Well dell sent me a 15% off coupon today and since i'm still looking for a monitor i figured i might get the dell but i have some questions for those that have it.

0. The dell has a 12ms grey-to-grey response rate but what is the black-to-white?

1. Which response rate is more important, grey-to-grey or black-to-white?

2. How much ghosting and blur is there in games compared to say current 12ms 19" screens?

3. How are the viewing angles? On 19" screens you can see the color change a bit with minor head movements, since the dell is wide wouldn't this be a bigger problem?

4. How much smaller are icons and text on the dell compared to a 19" lcd using 1280x1024?

5. Is there any banding in color gradients?

6. Anyone got a dell.ca coupon code i can have to get a larger discount?
 
That 15% code sucks. Go to the Dell website and play the Dellf game to eventually get the 25% off LCD coupon. Make up a bunch of e-mail addresses and you will eventually get it.

edit: I didn't notice at first, but I guess you're from Canada. I'm not sure if the Dellf game is available there.
 
no the delf game isn't. Dell.ca is very overpriced and lacks any type of promotional crap, which is why i ask if anyone has any coupons.
 
The viewing angles on the Dell are excellent. On my 19" I could see a difference in color from the top 1/2 of the screen to the bottom half, while on the Dell the color is consistent across the screen.

The grey-to-grey rasponse time is far more important. However, there is something weird about the specs of the 2005FPW. Dell claims it has a response time of 12ms on grey-to-grey and 16ms on black-to-white transitions which is impossible. It's probably a regular 16ms S-IPS panel and that 12ms figure is measured is some unusual and meaningless way.
