Okay, well I was pretty set on gettting a Sony FW900 until I heard that the viewable area is only like 20 or 22 or something. Would I just be better off getting a dell 2005fpw for only a bit more?
 
i BELIEVE the viewable area is 22.5" (bigger)
the reccomended resolution is 1920x1200, which scales very well, compared to the fpw which is 1680x1050 (native res), so to my knowledge, it doesnt scale well. Granted, if your pressed for space, then the lcd would win. I opted for the fw900 (partly because there was a coupon drought at dell) and couldnt be happier. Unless the size is a real issue, I doubt you'd regret getting the fw900 over the 2005fpw.
 
No size isn't a real issue. Sweet I'll have to pick one up next week. Also, can somone finally answer this, does it display 1080i resolution?
 
Can the fw900 put 4:3 and 16:9 resolutions in pillars or letterbox like the 2005fpw?
 
yes it has to put them in pillars and letterboxes. the fw900 is a 16:10 monitor, so 16:9 material (including 1080i) will be letterboxed. Not very much however, maybe about 2 inches from the top and bottom. 4:3 will have some pretty big pillars however.

Also, be warned: When you get it, you'll think the viewable area is huge, then after a while it will seem normal, and you'll want a bigger screen :p I'm starting to look at the westinghouse 37" now lol.
 
get the FW900, in 1-2yrs ur graph card too slow u can scale down to 1024x756 and still look good.
