2005FPW good for gaming??

yes i see the thread down under about the guy fixing his refresh rate, however ive never had an lcd / not really seen to many lcd's in action in person (dont ask)

so im worried about any ghosting on this model, or bad backlighting / dead pixels like ive read in some reviews on it. (although appears to have got better over mroe recent revisions)

any thoughts on this monitor?? undecided

the pricing on these things are so unstable, ive seen the price flucuate a few hundred bucks every couple hours...

Dell's return policy (Total Satisfaction Policy) is probably the clincher, at worse I'll be out 100 bucks for shipping and restocking fees.

someones saying i can get 1 for 400 bucks shipped but with all the coupons i can only get 2 of them for 1,005 shipped. i dunno what the deal is

(some other moron was saying u can get em for 330 each shipped but w/e)


how good r these monitors, ive read both good and bad reviews on the 2005fpw, and am in a hurry to buy kinda so these coupons dont run out etc (although theres 200 bucks in savings im missing some how ...cant figure it out)

I have one and game with others that do also and I've never noticed any ghosting, I play mostly FPSs. I play all games at 1680x1050 and they all look beautiful. I've read on the forums about dead pixels and backlighting problems but I'm suspecting most of the problems were from earlier versions. I got mine in April and had no problems of any kind , my brother got his at the same time and his had 1 dead pixel. I think it's a great monitor for the price.

If you get one I make carrying cases for them, very handy if you go to LANs

I got both of mine in june this year... no pixel/bleading problems on either, and they play FPS's good enough for me!

I have two and there both perfect, no dead pixels, no backlight problems. Don't notice any ghosting while playing games either.

I received mine this week. I enjoy it, but to be honest my computer can not always keep up with it. Some of that is due to what I want to use on video settings, some due to older video card. I've read posts with lower specs than mine that have no issues, so could also be something wrong with my machine.

The monitor scales rather well, and you can use the option to show 1:1. This lets either stretch the lower displays or live with black bars while you play. Both good alternatives in my opinion.

Video settings tie in with ghosting in my opinion. Such as with Vsync I notice very little, if any ghosting in the majority of games. (especially HL2) The exception to this is Team Fortress Classic when I bunnyhop/ramp slide/etc... (when I am constantly travel'n faster than originally plan'd by the game)

If you already have an LCD, I'd check the response time on it and compare it to what the response time for the 2005 is suppose to be. I can not say there is absolutely no ghosting because I know there is even if I do not notice it.

Games I've played this week without problems: Serious Sam 2 (ok my video card refused to do this at native resolution but the game supports it), Indigo Prophecy (had to run 1 under native due to game options, and had the monitor strech the image), Guild Wars (native resolution), Trackmania Sunrise (native resolution, slight motion sickness from this one ).
