When I play dvds for some reason it seems to be pixelated and dark. I used both power dvd xp 4.0 and the trial version of power dvd 6.

I've played with the picture settings (theater, vivid, etc.) and for some reason picture quality doesn't seem as natrual as it does on my sony tv. BTW I am using DVI from a 6600GT card. Games look Amazing but for some reason dvd looks subpar.

Any suggestions? Thanks.
 
DVD resolution is something like 720x480 or 640x480

this, presents a problem. you blow something up to 1600x1200 or whatever and it's gonna look grainy. dont watch dvds close up, sit farther away and they look great to me.

I have an apple 20" and sitting about 3 feet away from it looks good to me. when i lay on my bed even further away, it looks awesome.

your sony looks better because its just that, a tv. with the same 640x480 resolution as the dvd is meant to play in.

HOWEVER they should be realeasing High-Def DVDs sometime soon (or so i hear), so then you'll be good to go.
 
just got mine today and i noticed the same problem.

games look amazing, but the exact same issue with DVD playback. since I don't watch a lot of DVD on my comp, it shouldn't bother me too bad. however, i just started looking into the problem, so maybe i'll find something...

resolution issue was my first assumption...
 
Mess around with the overlay color settings in the Nvidia control panel. For me a seting of 135% brightness 123% contrast .92 gamma gives me good levels on my 2405. It will probably be different for you though. As far as pixelation, that's just something that happens when you take a compressed 720x480 image and blow it up on a 1680x1050 screen, move back 3-6 feet and you won't really notice it.
