all the peeps saying bad stuff about it:(
i just ordered me one i hope i like it...
what is some things to look for on it?

dead pixels and backlight misalignment... but as long as you don't have those problems, you'll be happy with your purchase.

After reading many posts about these monitors and how most everyone seems to be getting monitors with dead pixels and bad backlighting, makes me wonder why people have such a hardon over this monitor. If those problems weren't present, then I'd understand. I'll just stick with my dual 1800fps.

because the LCD just plain outright looks great.

thats why...

So are LCD's equal to CRT's for games yet? That and the price of a 20"+ lcd are whats been keeping me on the CRT bandwagon(just bought a FP2141). But if the ghosting and blur(bugs me a lot) has been taken care of i may just save up the grand to buy one. Outside of gaming i love them, i go to Compusa and drool over them :).

thats the same type of never ending debates like:

Intel or AMD? whats better?

ATi or nVidia? whats better?

LCDs or CRTs? whats better?

-it all depends on who you ask as to what the answer will be. as for me, I ditched my 21" Sony CRT at the end of 2002 and havent looked back ever since. but in reality, all I can suggest is that you see something in action in person so you can judge for yourself.

that will be the only true way of knowing what you'll know whats right for you.

Fair enough, don't want to start another debate equal to intel vrs amd :).

For anyone that's curious about the gaming issues with the 2001fp monitor.

Just order one from Dell , then if you're not satisfied with it - just return it for a full refund within 30 days.
That's the best way for you to be sure if the monitor is for you or not.

That's what I did, and as long as they send me a replacement with an almost perfect backlight - it will be a keeper.

I am very picky about monitors and their issues (ghosting and etc). and as far as I can say, it's not bad at all.

All LCD monitors are less superior to CRT monitors for gaming of course. I know for a fact, if your a hardcore gamer who likes to play fast paste games like Unreal Tournament and other wild FPS, LCD will lack in performance. There will be blurs and ghosting.

Now the real question is, how much is too much for you. Unlike CRT monitors, they don't ghost and blur so wildly as compared to a LCD of the same price. CRT monitors do ghost and blurs, but those are old and low end monitors, those type aren't seen on todays market no more.

When the Organic Light Emitting Deodie monitors come into view, thats another side.

see what I mean? I already rest my case in my above post.

There will be blurs and ghosting.

so, do you know that for a fact by first hand or are you just passin' on bad LCD judgement like so many others have done who have never tried a quality LCD like the 2001FP?

I'm guessing its the latter.

i bought a 2001fp and there are no deadpixel and the backlight is perfect. as you can imagine i am very hapy with my purchase.
