2001FP waiting game?

I've saved up and now I can buy the two 2001FPs that I've been wanting.

My question is, is there something better coming out on the horizon and would I be better off waiting? The 2001FP have been out for awhile and considering how fast the 2000FP were phased out, I wouldn't be surprised to see a 2002FP.

I haven't been following the LCD trend lately, any news?

I’m not sure when anything better is coming. However, before you take the plunge I suggest if at all possible that you see a 2001fp in action. I read so many reviews on how great it was before I bought my 2, but I returned them both. They were good monitors but I am one of the few who's bothered a lot by the screen door effect. So make sure you're not bothered by the graininess.

If you have already checked them out and are happy with them I say go for it. You won’t find a better deal for a long time (assuming you get the 2001fps on sale). They are awesome displays with out ghosting. As long as the screen door effect doesn’t bother you the 2001fp is the best lcd monitor for the money right now and probably for a while to come.

E3 was FULL of 2001's. it made me smile wider than ever. And everytime I see an ad or review for a uber-leet system, I always see the 2001's packaged. I got mine the day it came out... best thing I ever bought, hands down.

I'd go with an HP L2335 instead... oh, wait... already did. :p :D

I actually did consider getting two 2001FP's for quite some time before getting the HP though. After a guy I knew at work had so much trouble with his 2001FP, and all the hell Dell put him through, I decided against (just one incident though, I know there are a lot of very happy people out there too). I took a chance on the L2335, but since I did, I've been loving every minute of it. I was also happy to see recently that it actually comes with 3 years on-site service too (not that I've needed it).

Either way, be happy with what you get!

With the way LCDs are developing even if something new comes out its not gonna be fantastically better than the 2001fp. I haven't heard of any new 20" lcds coming out but who knows. You won't be disapointed if you go with the 2 2001fps now though.

There are LCDs coming out, although I cannot tell you if they will be better. This month saw the release of a Philips 19" 16ms screen (I cannot remember the model # sorry).

Next month will see offering from Benq, Neovo and Samsung

Samsung has two machines that I know of a 20" 16MS and a 23" 20MS. Thats what they told me, I have heard rumors of a larger screen 12MS from them as well but its only rumors.

I too am shopping to replace my 17 CRT. I still may get the Dell as the price is unbelievable. In Europe in dropped 200 Euros last month. It now goes for 1100, I doubt you'll see any of new screens for that price.

The Dell is a fantastic monitor, and I think the only competition is the 17" 12ms samsung, which one of my friend's has and is great for gaming.

As far as new stuff, I think you're going to find that if the new lcd's do come out, even really soon, the prices will be ridiculous. The dell is actually reasonable, especially for a 20". You won't be disappointed.

I was about 99% sure I was going to buy a 2001FP, but I have decidede to buy a 213T from Samsung instead.

When it arrives I will post a review and some pics of it.

I like samsung, and am upgrading from a 191T.

My story is almost the same as yours except I bought a 2001fp and sent it back. When/Where are you buying your 213t? Are you waiting for a dell deal or just going to a B&M?

I saw your thread!

How'd you get that price you posted, though? On HP, it's a few hundred dollars more :(

Thanks for the comments and suggestions, guys... I'll probably make my decision at the end of the week.

I have two 2001FPs at work, which is the only reason I'm considering them. As far as warranty support goes, I can go through my office's rep and get top notch service. If anyone has problems with returns, I can try to help out :)

I have a buddy who works at bestbuy, so he can get a little off. At bestbuy they are 1199, and on newegg they are 1190. So I'll be dropping a decent penny, but I like to have my LCD back 2-3 feet, and the extra 10% of screen space that the 213t has over the 2001fp i think will be well worth the extra couple hundred bucks

Damn! Those look sick! I have a silver lian li pc60 so Im going to go with silver, cant wait.

They realy are very nice monitors: http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1974

PS: dont overlook the hight adjustment its a pin in the back. You gently push down on the top of the monitor and then depress the pin. The action releases the screen and she telescope several inches up on a spring load. Its quite a luxury.

Few hundred more? I thought HP was $1699. What did I say in my post? I paid $1650 + about $50 shipping for mine from page computers IIRC. It was the last they had, they've since actually gone down in price... $1594.69 when I just checked. Hmm maybe their shipping went up in price? I dunno. But still a good deal in any case from what I've seen.

Good luck with what you decide on.

Ah, don't mind me - I was looking at a different model in the home section :p
