Hey everybody, I finally need to make a decision and buy a monitor. I have researched and have found separate reviews but never for all three of them. I play games, photoshop, video edit, etc. I wont watch movies but I know that that groups in with the games category. Basically, quality of picture and good for gaming are my top priorities.

By the by, are there any new 20''+ monitors coming out?

my votes for the Viewsonic...frankly, i really like the HP L2335 but...prolly outta your price range.

cheers,

dave

frankly, I'm right there with you but I can't do the extra $500. =) Next time, when I can afford a new vid card AND a new monitor.

So, does the vp201 really beat out the 2001fp? Even with a higher refresh rate?

Edit: sorry, they have the same refresh.

OK, so now it's down between the vp201 and 2001fp...also, does anyone know of a good place I can finance/lease these monitors? (rather pay it out monthly than one big sum)

I think Dell has payment plans. Not sure about ViewSonic, but you can probably find that.

If you don't know already, these two lcd's use EXACTLY THE SAME BASE PANEL, an LG model, meaning that in almost every aspect they are exactly the same, but as far as quality control and fewer complaints, I say go with the Viewsonic (also I hate Dell) despite the added price.

Good point...I've always hated dell as well. =) lol.

Question: does the 2001fp rotate to portrait mode as well?

Edit: anyone know off hand where I can finance/pay monthly on a viewsonic vp201?

that depends on the color of your case :D

Yeap :) Make sure you come back and let us know what YOU think about this screen, it's color reproduction, ghosting, ease of use, etc.

Thanks Dave...PM is on the way!

And I will DEFINITELY check back and give my own little "mini review" of the VP201. Thank you everybody for helping me out.

One thing you much be careful about is even though two manufactures might use the same exact panel, that does not mean what DRIVES the panel will be the same. The panel is no good without the better electronics to make it all work.

I think this is probably the big fault of the Dell piece, Viewsonic spent more on what makes the unit work. Thus, it costs a bit more.

Just food for thought. Same holds true with all monitors.
