I just finished reading AT's 213T article, seems like a nice monitor. I saw it at Best Buy, and I was intrigued, but it is much more expensive than a 2001fp. Here is what I do:
Word Processing
DVD/TV watching
Maya, Premiere Pro
Gaming

(in no general order)

Is it worth it to save up some more for a 213T, or just buy the 2001fp? I like the USB ports on the 2001fp, and I am sure that I would use them...but it's only 20" vs. 21" ;)

I looked and couldnt find it, whats the response time on the 213T?

I have a 213T and love it. I've played a variety of games/various genres, and have no complaints about ghosting. It even scales from lower resolutions with little loss of quality for games that my 9500 Pro can't handle at full resolution.
Pretty much the only thing it has going for it over the 2001FP is the extra inch. At 1600x1200, text still seems to be fairly big. I haven't seen one in action, but (at least for someone with my eyesight), 1600x1200 on a smaller screen would be somewhat small.
That said, the only reason I bought the 213t is because I'm a best buy employee, and getting it there with an ubercheap 3 year extended warranty (I can carry it in & get it replaced anytime I want with just a single dead pixel).
If I had to pay full price for it the monitor, though, I'd have gone with a 2001fp. The rca/s-video input is a cool feature, and I'd love to be able to get clip-on speakers like the ones Dell offers for lan parties.

Oh yes the good ole cost +5%. I worked at best buy back sophmore year in college. Worked there long enough to get everybody I knew a discount on anything they wanted. I thought it was real funny that the service plans were almost free, just goes to show you how much profit is in their service plans if the cost is $5 for a $100 service plan. Anyways, after 2 months at best buy I realized I didn't want to work for a bunch of scum. Managers always tell us lies to tell to get us to sell service plans and msn, or whatever the special whas at the time. Course a lot of the people that work there don't know they are being told to pass on lies, or just don't care.

Anyways, got off subject but oh well. I never pass up an opportunity to bash that pos company known as best buy. Store #203 in austin, tx can eat it.

You need to shut the fuck up. You abuse employee perks like discounts and then go off saying how bad a company is. You are a terrible employee and don't deserve to work anywhere.

Yes i am such a bad person, what was I thinking. I guess I could try to justify my actions, but honestly, I don't care. I'm sure you are the perfect saint, and have never d/led an mp3, or "borrowed" software, or blah blah blah. Get off your high horse.

wait, the 213T allows you to rip of major corporations while getting employee benefits?

thanx for the thread crap guys...

any more opinions about the 213t?

Looks like at major electronic stores, like Best Buy or Circuit City you get a $100 mail in rebate too.

i went to Best Buy last nite and looked at teh 213T....WOW! that thing is a monster. i don't think i could use a 21" monitor, i would have to sit on the other side of the room ( i sit 4 feet away from my 17" CRT w/ 1280x1024 resolution).
i have no idea on performance of it though, as it was only displaying the BB logo.

They are 1200.00, the 2001FP was on sale yesterday for 899.00

Iv owned both Samsung and now the 2100fp panels and I can definetly tell you they are two very different beasts.
Without going through what everyone has already said, in general the 213T is better if youra casual gamer. But if your a hardcore or regular gamer (in particular fast games like FPS), then the 2100fp will be more to your liking.
If the 2100fp didnt have the brightness/contrast issue and more so the scanlines which not only are very visibile on plain light areas (which are often seen in a windows desktop but no in games) but they take the sharpness away from the screen.
This is particularly visibile if u put another good quality panel next to a 2100fp (i compared a large samsung, iiyama and eizo).
Course all this is if the money difference isnt a big issue :)
Hope this helps.
