I'm thinking of getting a 2001FP TFT and I've read alot about this "screen door effect", what is that? link please.. Since the search funktion is disabled(gaaah!:p) I'll have to make a new thread..

Also, I'd like links to reviews and user comments of the 2001FP, I'd like links to both user reviews, such as in this forum and others, aswell as "professional" reviews!

The screen door effect is just the grid of lines that separates the pixels on the screen. Some say that this grid is too visible making it look like your seeing the picture like you would looking at something on the other side of a screen door.

I'm getting mine next week, so I'll let you know what I think :D

cnet review and user comments. This is really the only place I've read bad stuff about the monitor... I'll look for more and edit this post.

Something that I really like and find useful is user reviews in forums, long threads with lots of pictures!

EDIT: When is PIP useful? Is it when you have 2 inputs plugged in or is there any other use if you only use the 2001fp connected to a pc? Also, anybody got a picture showing the screen door effect?
 
I just found this thread discussing the screendoor effect. It mentions an article from Tom's Hardware, here, that shows the effect. But keep in mind that any monitor will look bad when you take a picture of it with a digital camera and blow it up to huge proportions.

As for PIP, I suppose you could use both DVI and VGA on the monitor to make kinda two desktops if you were so inclined. You could also hook up a tv tuner, dvd player, or xbox to it and keep that in the PIP screen or something.
 
It isn't a "screen door effect" on the 2001fp, it is the coating / outside layer of the panel. It looks more like the screen is covered with a fine layer of dust than a "screen door". The other effect is that with some colors it appears that every other line has a slightly different brightness than the one next to it, so you can sort of see horizontal lines.

Its very subjective... some will say that the 2001fp is absolutely beautiful, some will say the image is OK, some will say the image is garbage (especially people who shelled out an extra $400-500 for a 213T).

I have a 213t and a 2001fp. Yes the picture quality is better on the 213t. I am not saying that because I spent more money on it I am saying it because I have them both hooked up and staring at them right now and it is obvious which one is better. There is some screen door effect with the 2001fp. The chance of you getting one with 0 dead pixels is...well slim. I have returned mine 3 times and each one that I got back is worse then the last. It is a nice panel though. I am happy that I have it. The build quality is nice. Let me know if you need some specifics.

The screen door effect seems to be a subjective matter. As posted above, some people notice it more than others. I have a 2001FP, and will admit that the image quality isn't as good as other LCD's I've used (1900FP). To me, it is hardly noticeable unless I specifically look for it.

That's also why you pay a bit more for other monitors comparable in size.
 
I've about 20 of those sweet monitors - no dead pixels, no complaints, except for the peeps that only have 1.
 
I have had more then 1 and all of them exhibit the same problems with dead pixels and backlight issues. I am far from being the only one.
 
i notice you have the 213T hooked up via DVi and the 2001Fp via VGA. Try swapping them and see the image quality difference. Screen door effect is something that appears in any kind of digital display. It just depends on how close you are to it. For me, at 3 Feet (head to screen) i don't see any screen door. I have a Viewsonic VG171b that at that same distance you notice the same amount of screen door. just my 2cents.
