Thanks![]()
Elec said:The 2001fp is technically a bigger monitor (more screen area, more pixels) and will probably be better if you really need the desktop space for productivity things, rarely watch movies, or play mainly games which will not support widescreen. You might be happier with the 2005fpw if you watch a lot of movies (in wide aspect) or play games which support widescreen modes. World of Warcraft and HL2 both look and play great in widescreen, IMHO.
JonDo[H] said:It's been said that the next edition of Windows will be pushing native widescreen support on the PC (as MS have promoted it on their Xbox). A lot of the latest games support widescreen out of the box, and even if they don't the majority can be edited. I've got a widescreen tv connected to an Xbox: games in widescreen are markedly improved over their 4:3 counterparts as you get a much wider field of view. The same can be said when applied to PC games. But whether you actually "like" widescreen is entirely subjective!
I've currently got a 2001fp, tried out a L90D+ but didn't like it (see my comparison on this forum) and I've now got a 2005fpw on order. I'm hoping to do a write-up by the weekend on the 2005, so if you're prepared to wait I'll let you know
EDIT: Just add to that, it's true you need some graphical muscle to push the higher resolutions. The latest gen ATI and Nvidia cards will see you through well enough (x800, 6x00 series), and I know personally that the 2001FP interpolates lower resolution images better than the Hyundai L90D+ does (1024x768 will look better on the Dell, for instance). The Hyundai looks a lot nicer at 1280x1024 of course, but that goes without saying![]()
