2000VA UPS w/Adapter?

I have an extra 2000VA UPS that I want to use that takes an input of 120V/240V but provided are power cables with either the UK or CEE 7/7 connection. I was wondering if using a standard adapter for this UPS would be sufficient to convert to the US NEMA 5-15 connection?

Now if this was a MP3 player of sorts when traveling I wouldn't think twice but for some reason I'm hesitant to use it on a UPS. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
 
Most 2000VA UPSs will not work when plugged into a US NEMA 5-15 since they can draw more than 15A when charging. These usually come with a nema 5-20 to prevent users from just plugging the device into a 15A outlet.
