Uhmm.. Did you read Post #1? Question 3 says all parts will be ordered as I am in idaho.. There is no microcenter or fry's anywhere within 200 dollars worth of gas of me.

You can install windows from a thumb drive, or over network.

Not sure if a CPU cooler is included, but you can check. Looks like it uses a clip style mounting similar to chipsets (has loops near two of the corners).
Get 2 x 1GB DDR2 sodimms for like $15-20 on ebay or forums
Or get 2 x 2GB DDR2 sodimms for like $30
Buy a 500GB or smaller 2.5" hard drive for $50 or less

$43 itx case with PSU, I think $55 tops shipped to you

I might try this, cuz i have spare parts laying about, cpu, ddr2 sodimms, 2.5 HDD, and heatsinks.
Just need a mobo, case, and PSU.

install whatever OS u want, google that mobo and it works with other unmentionable OSes too

This is hovering right around $200, $215 tops

nevermind future upgrade-ability (if thats a word :) ) She would only be a decent gpu like 5770 for a decent little gaming rig!
Heck if the resolution is 1440x900/1280x1024 a 4670/56704850 would play a ton of stuff on medium settings!
 
She won't be gaming anything more intense then solitare

actually a used netbook is still a possibility.. She really really doesn't need much. She is moving today so I suspect that it will be within the next week that the trigger is pulled on something.
 
I second the used netbook too. Portability AND saving money from not getting the monitor. Depends on usage, netbook should be fine for net surfing for most people and basic word processing.
