I have a pair of Labtec Elite headphones. I don't remember what model exactly, but they were the best or second best sold at Sam Goody two years ago. The cheapest ones there that looked big and comfortable. About $20, probably.

All in all, I've been happy with them, but ever since my mom fed the headphones to my dog, only the left speaker has worked, and this leaves me decidedly unsatisfied.

In addition, my family has recently started using Skype for voice-over-internet, and I lack a working microphone on my computer. So I need a headset.

I would use the headset for the following things:
- TV on the computer; mostly Daily Show
- Games, mostly at LAN parties, that happen relatively rarely
- Voice over the internet
- DVDs in the car, etc.

I'm looking for:
- A usable microphone
- Comfortable; I can't stand ear buds or the type of headphones that are usually in airplanes; the things that are basically a plate covered with a bit of foam
- Decent length cord; so I don't need an extension cord when the computer is on the floor
- Durability; I don't expect them to outlast an attack by my dog, but I don't want them to break when I fall asleep in a car while watching a movie, or if someone kicks them when they are on the car floor, or in my bag when going to a LAN, etc.

I'm not looking for:
- Great sound quality. Obviously better is better, but I don't listen to music, and I have no complaints about the sound quality of my old headphones

My budget is around $20. I would prefer to buy from NewEgg, amazon.com, or a brick-and-mortar store near me (Microcenter, Radioshack, Staples, Sam Goody or FYE).

In another thread someone suggeted Plantronics .Audio 90 to another person, but he had a different budget and different needs.

Oddly enough, I would trust Telex to make better stuff than Platronics. Take a look at the Telex website. They are into some serious multimedia applications across a wide range of markets. Platronics is a johny-come-lately in comparison. It's just a hunch.
