I have my P4 in my sig rig running the notfred CD in hyperthreading mode. Almost 3 weeks ago it started on a pair of work units that are rather long-running. i checked this morning and they were at 90% complete after about 18 days of running. I'll check this evening and get the project number

After these finish should I turn off hyperthreading? I tried turning it off once and it would not finish a work unit. I think that was another problem but I'm not sure. Does hyperthreading hurt or help the output on these first attempts at virtual cores?


 
Hyperthreading could hurt some units and the majority would tell you to disable it. The ppd gain is 15% max and can be wiped if you get over the deadlines ;)

 
I have a P4 630 (SL7Z9) 3.0ghz clocked to 4.0ghz and have ran unicore and smp units under Vista x86 on it.
I tried turning off HT for a bit and noticed a drop in PPD about 15-20%.
I no longer run units on it since I have it busy serving up GPU clients but I decided the best PPD came from having HT on.
That was my experience with it. Don't know if that helps.
