Hey!

i have a motherboard with a 24 pin power connector and a 4 pin 12v connector. HOwever my antec PSU (even though advertised as 20 and 24 pins) only has a 20 pin connector and a 12v 4 pin connector.

Can i still use this PSU on this motherboard even though the PSU does not have the 24 pin connector?

thank you

Yes the 24pin connector on the mobo is keyed to take the 20 pin.

What is the PSU in question?

What Antec PSU do you have? I probably has a 20+4 modular ATX.

the model is ST405. Is the +4pin an additional addon? maybe i dropped the applicator?

so its ok to use a 20pin for a 24 pin?

ST405?!?!

Are you sure that's an Antec? ST405 is the part number for a Silverstone Strider 400W, right?

If it is an ST405 it DEFINITELY has the "breakaway" 4-pins that allow you to go from 20 to 24 pins.

Do you see a 4-pin connector with one orange, one yellow, one black and one red? That would be it.

The one with 2 yellows and 2 blacks is different. All ATX12V power supplies have that whether they're 20-pin or 24-pin. ;)

ok this is screwy. Yes, my mistake it IS a silverstone. However, the box says its a St405 while the model number on the PSU says ATX-1140G. Guess tigerdirect send me the wrong PSU. i wish i put this computer together when i actually received it, i dont think i can return it now.

Nonetheless i am gonna ask this question one more time: Will this computer work with a 20pin connector even though the mobo is 24 pin.

Maybe, what is the +12V amperage rating?

Ah.. So not only is it the WRONG power supply... it's also an OLD one. The ST405 has had two 12V rails with 14A/15A for at least a year.

It's not a bad power supply.. BUT IT'S NOT WHAT YOU ORDERED!!!!!

Return it.
