How the hell do I X-Fire these cards on a MSI K9A Platinum mobo that's in my wife's rig. Planning on stealing the mobo from her so that I can play Crysis at reasonable fps. One ain't cutting it folks... do I need the dongles or the bridges? How do I get the dongles or the bridges? Mastercard, how do I get it, or, can one of them be master and one slave?

You need a mastercard with a dongle. Unless you can get a used one for sub $150 I would not bother. They are priced very high when new. You can get 2 3850 for some of the prices I saw.

Pretty sure you can use software Crossfire with those - never tried it though.

I'm looking at the certified combo on the graphs, so since I have the AMD 580X chipset which supports X-Fire, then I don't need the external dongles? Can someone plz, explain what the dots correspond to, besides supported chipsets. I thought the older vidcards(ie. x850xt and x1800xt needed the mastercards in slave/master format). I'm trying to salvage what I've already spent on vidcards, so that I can play Crysis with all the eye-candy without resorting to buying the newer 3850's and 3870's. Crysis will be played in Windows XP pro SP2 32-bit format for now until I can work this dilemma out. Wife doesn't know yet but I'm ganking her mobo and cpu, lol!;)

looks to me like you need a master card (cross fire edition).

1900GTs or 1950 gts can do software i believe.

nightwalker,
so your'e telling me that I can do this by software, and, which my mobo(MSI K9A Platinum) does support X-Fire? And I don't need the external dongles, too?
