After 2 maxtor 160gig hd's are formatted in a raid array, what should the capacity be? Will it be greater than 310gb?

You have to be careful when throwing around hard drive numbers, because what you see you might not get. My 120 gig drives only deliver 113 gigs of actual storage, so I'd say your 160's would give maybe 150? So 2 x 150 would be 300.
 
Somewhere between 298GB and 305GB, I'd say, depending on stripe size and whatnot.
