2-Tier workbench?

Well, I'm starting to grow out of my current desktop space, so it's time for something new. Thing is I can't really find what I want...

All I want is a long workbench (6ftish), that has a keyboard tray underneath the primary surface, and then a 2nd tier above the primary surface that spans the entire bench to place monitors on. This way I want have the entire primary surface clean of computer components.

And the second tier needs to be at least a few inches from the primary surface so that I can tuck my stereo receiver underneath it (the height of the tier in the picture looks about right). Anybody know where I can find something like this?

upper surface, 8 ft. wide.
[H]ard-factor, huge. the thing weighed over a hundred pounds.

cost, around $100.
time, around 6 hours, plus time for paint to dry.
materials, 3/4" MDF sheeting and a grip of 2x4s for braces and legs, two 2"x4"x10's for the front and back framing, and a ton of 3 1/2" deck screws.

the legs are just two pieces of 2x4 cut and screwed together. much cheaper than buying 4x4s and just as sturdy.

the secondary surface is pnly the width of a 2x4 high, but you could just as easily use 2x6s or 2x8s from a lumber yard iy you need the height.

I think the Ikea "jerker" is close to what to want. I have one in my office at work and I like it. Another option would be to get the standard 8" folding table and just add keyboard trays and monitor arms.

I would not use a folding table for monitors, they are made out of very lightweight MDF. The thing will start to bow in the middle after a little while. I know because I have tried it before.

that is indeed what it is. my fiancee and i both work for a newspaper as copy editor/page designers. we dig stuff like REALLY old papers.

I don't know what kind of cheap a$$ folding table you used, but the ones I have and refer to are reinforced with steel beneath the top and can and have hold 3 or 4 monitors no problem, without bowing.

Go to Ikea's website and look at the "jerker". It fits your criteria except for width. They offer a few accesories that you might like like various add on shelves that make it extremely flexable.
 
Easy, get a big piece of malimime (or w/e) and tehn use something to cut it into the shape you want, then use awht you cuyt out as the 2nd level. After that put trim o and buy or make feet.
 
Can somebody show me some pics of a jerker in use? The pics from their website don't seem to be what i want
