2 Single Radiators in one loop Ok?

Hi there guys,

I'm about to jump into the deep waters after many years of air cooling.

Here is my situation and laugh if you want :D

I would like to put a loop to cool down a GPU and CPU. Here is the problem I believe to get the performance I want, I will have to use a 2 fans (120mm) radiator. Basically to get good performance will have to place the radiator outside (On top or behind)but I don't want my wife to notice anything different in my PC case lol :D I know... I'm doing an underground operation LMAO

Placing the radiator on the back of the case will keep me from hooking up the cables... so my idea was to place one single radiator on the back and another one inside the case... it's that something that will work? If Yes, what pump will you suggest if I'm planning on using Storm for the CPU and M4 for the GPU and 1/2 tubing
 
Yea, it'll work.
I suggest a Swiftech MCP655 (Dangerden D5) pump. I have one. It's good and pretty quiet.
 
I've got a little clandestine watercooling operation planned myself. My wife does not suspect a thing. Keep it on the down low.
 
Dude, there's no way you're going to be able to hide a major mod like WCing from your wife--trust me I've tried.

The comment about "fish tank" noise is dead on!

I've had people who have no experience with WCing walk into my office and ask me that same question. I wish I had a camera to record the myriad of facial expressions when I explain that it's a WCed computer.

It only sounds like a fishtank while you're bleeding the system :). I bet you could do the mod from start to finish in 1 night, so send the wife out to a movie/dinner thing with her friends (she'll love you for it anyways :rolleyes: ).
 
Well yeah I have a windowed case. Its only a matter of time before she catches on. I'm just going to prolong it for as long as I can. Hopefully by the time she figures it out I will be filling the loop about to throw the switch.
 
Don't use a res, use a T-line that way there will be no 'running water' / 'dripping' sounds. I had a few res's and you could always hear some type of gurgling even if it was only every few mins.

Also, I have been using a single 120mm rad, but tried 2 of them in a Lian Li v2000. My temps were better with 1 rad than 2. The back fan was bringing in warmer air and actually increasing temps, also with that back rad in the air inside the case got much warmer. I have a 3 Ghz Opty and X1900XTX with a single 120 swiftech rad and my load temps on the cpu is about 41, the gpu is about 43. You really don't need more unless you are using an intel pres-hott or are using some mad volts.
 
Excellent inputs guys.. LOL I find funny I'm not the only one running clandestine operations... sending my wife away for few hours is not a problem... she is always shopping ;)

My case is big enough to hide everything ... regarding the fish tank noise I can always say the "Fish Tank Screensaver" is playing numbers on me :D

So with the reservoir really sounds that bad? Meaning can you hear water dripping all the time? sounds relaxing lol

no, not really. i don't hear anything on mine.
get the reservoir w/ dividers so no bubbles or gurgling sounds occurs.

Go ahead and use 2 rad's. You should never pull air into your case through a rad, that just makes no sense. Take it off and flip the fan around to solve that problem.
 
it'll work, but your loop wont be the most efficient setup out there. you are adding more restriction to your loop which can hurt performance. 2 single 120 rads do not equal the performance of 1 dual 120mm radiator. However, if you are working on a "stealth" mod, than 2 120mms may be the best for you....go for it!
 
have you been sleeping on the couch? Any updates, or more brain storming?
