2 Raptors Non-RAID

I have talked with numerous people on the subject of putting Raptors in a RAID array and most come to the conclusion that having more than 2 in an array is pretty much worthless for the desktop. However, someone made an interesting suggestion. Take two Raptors, have one for the OS, one for apps (games, etc.), and then a large storage drive for all else.

What do you guys think?
 
Well, even the 37 gig is a tad big for just your OS, seems like a waste. I use one 74 for the OS and programs and a single PATA 250 for storage. Tried RAID, didn’t seem to buy me much for home use.

Just another opinion of course ;)
 
I would have to agree with the above, I have the 74 gig raptor with a 20 gig partiton for the OS and the rest for games. Then I have a 200 gig drive for MP3's movies pics backups and etc.
 
I Use a raptor for OS and installed programs, one for virtual machine images and a big ol' storage drive.
 
I'm probably really crazy. After having 2 hard drive failures in a year I got 2 36GB Raptors and put them in a RAID 1 array for the peace of mind. Then got a 200GB drive for gaming and storage. And have 2 external drives for more storage and backup.

It was a nightmare and now I'm paranoid!

unless you have more then 70GB of OS, games, and apps, just get one Raptor and a big 400GB storage drive
