What exactly is the difference between normal ram and "XMS" ram? I tried to look it up on google without much luck. My general assumption would be that it is faster // more efficient than normal ram (considering how much more expensive it is) - but I'd like to have that theory backed up if possible.

Also, would my:
ABIT AN8-V Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD

be able to support:
CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model TWINX2048-3200

without any conflict problems?

Thank you! =)

the only difference is that the corsair XMS is targeted towards enthusiasts... usually has tighter timings which will get you like 1-2% more performance :p

ahh, what about xms2?

another 1-2%?

and... can that motherboard handle xms or even xms2?

thanks!

XMS2 is just XMS for DDR2.

Your board is for Socket 939 which is DDR1, so you can handle XMS if you'd like. XMS2 would require a socket AM2 processor board or an Intel board that used DDR2.
