1) Can anyone tell me the difference between the Centrino and the Centrino G ...

2) Pros and Cons between Mobile P4 and Centrino Processors...

1. Just a guess, Centrino G probably has 802.11G while standard Centrino uses 802.11B.

2. As far as those go, the "Centrino" processors (i.e. Pentium M) are very good. Low power, faster, very efficient. Mobile P4 uses the P4 architecture, so it needs to run faster for the same performance, and it may use more power than the Pentium M. Both are good chips, but I'd prefer the "Centrino" processor.

I agree with the first one...kinda what i was thinking too...So how do you pair up performance wise...i.e. which Mobile P4 woud be equivalent to a 1.6 GHz Centrino....?

I'm not experienced enough to take a guess. Try to find some reviews online for any Pentium M vs. mobile P4 and kinda get a feel for it.

I'd say about 2.53-2.8ghz P4.

Higher than that... in some games it is equivalent to a 2.8C P4, but most games are closer to being between a 3.0C and 3.2C... much like a 3.1C... if it were to exist. Benchmarks such as 3dMark outright score the same as a 3.2C (stock, of course) synthetic benchmarks tell an entirely different tale, however, scoring as low as a 2.2Ghz P4

If you want battery life, you want Pentium M, if you want raw power, you want Pentium M.
It's really a no-brainer

Oh, did I mention they run cooler? :p
