2 pumps = better flow?

Hey guys -

Question, I am doing a new conroe build and have purchased a Lian Li V2000 case to house it in. The radiator is the moster core from Voyeurweb, L5 pump and I will be cooling the MB, cpu and GPU x2.

I have some extra areas though that reduces the flow. I am thinking of building both a t-line for draining AND for filling (one up top, one at the bottom). So I am a bit concerned about the water flow

I actually have an extra pump from my current build; would it make sense to add in a 2nd pump to the serial system? And would that provide a better water flow even with the additional diversions?

Thanks!

Two pumps won't double your non-restriction flow, but if you're getting flow loss due to restriction, running two pumps can help.

It increases the pressure, so the same flow can be had in a more restrictive loop. flow vs head is kinda like horsepower vs torque.

hrm.. this could present a problem though. You would need to synchronize your pumps somehow. If one was pumping faster than the other, it would create vacuum pressure in the line inbetween the pumps, or maybe create air pockets if you were using a t-line or res.

Yeah, I am thinking about going rez instead, due for bubble reasons.

But the main question is the drain. I am thinking about doing a T-line and then using a danger den fillport; but I am very worried about the flow control of doing that. I guess ideally there would be some connector that would allow you to turn off a directional flow (i.e. a t-line with the ability to turn off the unused piece); however after shopping online and going to a few hardware stores -- I have had no luck.

Regarding the pumps in synch; I would hope they would be fine as they are the exact same pumps -- but your point is taken. I would think if the pumps were seperated by restraining parts that even if they were only slightly out of synch -- it would still help.

Thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated. I am looking forward to when conroe finally cam be shipped and would love to have this case good to go when conroe hits the streets.

Thanks in advance!

If he split the line and route the pumps parallel to each other then join the lines after the pumps, would that work?

okay i think i am right with this....
2 pumps in series increases head but same flow
2 pumps in paralle x1.5 flow approx no gain in head....

so depends on your WC systems....
small bore then series due to high restriction blocks ie AC, inovateck etc
large bore the parralle due to low restriction ie swiftech or DD

for me theres no performance increase w/ 2 pumps in series.
first pump is pulling water at 100gal/hr, 2nd pump is also pulling water at 100 gl/hr- but second pump is pulling water from the first pump. there'd only be increase performance if the two pumps at 100gl/hr are pulling water from the same source, one hose w/c is split to both pumps.
