Hey, as seen in my sig I have an Abit KR7A and recently I bought a firewire PCI card to go along with my new Canon ZR70MC digital camcorder. When I went to put it in along with my Sound Blaster and NIC, the computer automatically disabled the NIC and enabled the firewire card. As some of you may know, this board has 6 PCI slots. What I don't get is why they would put six PCI slots if only two of them are able to be used. Does this have something to do with the motherboard or Windows XP in general?

It's also not just the firewire card that is causing this problem. It has happened with a wireless NIC as well. Also, I have tried using different slots for all the cards but alas, I get the same situation. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

I am not sure on why the other card was disabled, but anAudigy 2 with the firewire port will reduce your card count.

I would, but I have no money and don't want to buy another sound card just to fix this petty problem.

put the cards in different slots they will all work

I have tried that and it still doesn't work. I've also tried multiple arrangements to no avail.
