Question 1: While playing graphicly demanding games such as crysis warhead images render extremely slow and when thy do it just appears at higher resolution instead of a smooth transition. Example: I see a big rock in the distance and run up to it...its blurry and not yet fully rendered until I move in much closer in which point it goes from blurry to high resolution...its very annoying and makes playing games a displeasure. I've tried to mess around and tweak every known setting but can't seem to fix this issue...I'm tired of things transforming from one graphic state to another at a very noticeable rate...am I even saying this right? Any way to fix it or is my gpu messed up like I've asked in previous posts. (I'm now on the verge of RMAing it and pissed I have to pay $110.00 for restocking from newegg)

Question 2: Obviously I'm dissatisfied with my new setup and am looking for a solution and plan to do one of the following:

RMA my gtx590 and SLI 2 gtx 580s

Or I can buy another gtx 590 and quad SLI...is there Mich of a performance difference? Or I could wait for kepler (would rather not)

I'm on a phone so sorry if this is all written sloppy...thabks for any help

Note: I have an 800w corsair gamers edition power supply...if I go quad SLI I'm going to also need to upgrade that as well, correct?

With 2 590s you may need a more powerful PSU, but not sure that is going to fix your problem. Do you have AA turned on? You could try adjusting that. You could try to use MSAA or FXAA. That is where I would start. Perhaps manually setting graphics card in the Nvidia control panel rather than letting the application do it.

What is your screen resolution?
Is your card being utilized well? Use MSI Afterburner to investigate that.
What settings are you using in game?
What is the rest of your system?
What driver version?

Yes you can SLi the 590 but honestly it has never been well received, at any rate your PSU would need upgrading.

A single GTX 590 should smoke Crysis Warhead, BTW. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU11/188

I've played with like every combination of settings...right now they're mostly maxed

1600x900 resolution (native)

Not sure if card is being "utilized well"...is the EVGA version basically the same as msi?

Maxed settings in any/all games

Assassin 2 mobo
I-7 3960x
Gtx 590
128 gb OCZ ssd (vertex-3)
16gb corsair vengence DDR3
800w corsair PSU

the whole blurry at a distance and gets clearer as you get closer thing is Anisotropic filtering

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anisotropic_filtering

back before anisotropic filtering we had bilinear and trilinear filtering, you should have seen how bad that looked :D

this has nothing to do with your graphics card. its how games are made and all you can do to improve this is to raise AF to 16x if the game even lets you.

the way i always understood it if AF or earlier filtering versions were not employed all graphic's hardware no matter how powerful would choke on the bandwidth required to render such high resolution textures in games, esp massive complex environments found in today's games.

No man I understand that, I'm saying its instant and lagging in the render effect...it doesn't happen generally as I get closer but right away as I get close...example is in crysis warhead ill see an object like a fire extinguisher 5 feet away and it will be slightly blurred, then I move up really close and the graphic changes to a clearer more high res version...shouldn't it be rendering these graphics at a somewhat distance so they aren't as easily noticeable???

thats got nothing to do with your video card, it has everything to do with how the game engine works. try BF3, i've never seen this in BF3. now RAGE on the other hand, major texture poping in and out when you move around the game. its all about how a game engine handles rendering to strike that balance between visual quality and performance because too high of visual quality (think CGI films) result in very very low performance. in order to render in real time video games have to make compromises in the visual performance in order to make sure the game will be playable on lots of hardware and crysis warhead is now a fairly old game so try some newer games like Crysis 2 (with dx11 and hi-res texture pack installed) or BF3, they are probably the 2 best games graphics wise for the PC currently available
