Okay so i got tired of Xp pro and installed xp home on another hard drive so that I could copy all my files from the one with xp pro on it over to the one with xp home. Well the one with XP pro is still considered C: drive so I can't format it. I've tried taking it out of the start up process in the bios but then it tells me no OS found. So while I have both of them in there every time I start up my PC it asks me which OS I want to load Pro or Home. They both work, but pro is taking up one of my 40 gigs and I'd like that disk space back! Any help would be hot!

2 operating systems HELP!

Anytime your going to load an OS, it's best to disconnect every other HDD in the system, if you have partitions on them that you don't want touched. I'd recommend pull the pro drive and installed XP Home clean on the second one.
I have to ask this question, because I can't fathom the response....but how can you possibly grow tired of XP Pro, and see XP Home as a different alternative? Anything you'd have to complain about it XP Pro, will be present in XP Home.

Ah..I see. Well, in that case, good for you. It's nice to see people taking that route for a change.
There are ways you could edit the boot.ini file and get it to boot poperly, but it might also require a repair install as well. That's why i suggested pulling the Pro disk from your machine and doing a fresh clean install of XP Home, then adding your Pro disk later. Then you can copy off the data and reformat the pro disk to a new fresh drive.

I'm not really sure I understood how to do it that way... lol. But since my OS that I want to keep is on an Serial ATA drive do I need do anything before installing a fresh OS on my system?
