I am currently running 2 nic cards in one of my machines. This machine uses dsl for its internet connection and is configured to automatically get its ip & dns. This machine is also running utorrent 24/7. The 2nd nic card is configured to my router's gateway which has 2 other pcs's on it, this nic card is static ip with the gateway of the router no dns specified. This gives this machine access to the network file shares

The problem is that when both are active the 2 machines on the router suffer horrible loss of bandwidth while the "dsl" machine is running torrents. Keep in mind the dsl machine is using the dsl for all traffic.

The only way to make sure the 2 router based machines (connected to cable modem) dont lose bandwidth is to disable the 2nd nic card.

Have I fongiured this wrong?

Hrm...

So your network looks something like this:

(internal network) <--> Router <--> Torrent Machine <-->DSL Modem

If it is setup like this, why? What are you trying to achieve by putting your torrent machine directly on the internet?

No I guess I explained that wrong then..I have 2 broadband connections at home. 1 cable & 1 dsl. I want to use the DSL soley for torrents right now BUT also want that machine capable of sending files to the other pc's on the cable broadband based network.

does that make better sense?

yes the 2 machines on the internal (router & cable modem network) are all 192.168.0.x

all i want to do is be able to send files from the dsl torrent machine to the network (192.168.0.x) shares.
