2 new computers that won't boot up

hi,

i have 2 new computers that have the exact same problem... they were working just fine, but all of a sudden, wouldn't boot up anymore.

my guess is, the motherboard isn't updated or fully compatible.

here's the first system:

Asus p5b-e
dual core e6400
320GB seagate
2GB OCZ
Sapphire x1950xt

is there a known issue with that motherboard and cpu?

you can hear here going (it opens up) but nothing shows up on screen.

video card and memory have been tested already

tried a different monitor? do you hear any error beeps when you pull out the ram? how did you test the vidcard and ram?

i tried another video card that works fine and it's on another monitor also.

you can hear the system starts, but you don't hear the normal beep... normally, the system makes alot of noise (coming from the video card fan mostly) for 3-4 secs and then it boots up... now, the sound never quiets down and it stays there with nothing on screen
 
I'm confused. You said you tested the video card, and the way you tested it, was that you tried another video card? That doesn't test the video card. Does the suspected video card work in another system?

Do you hear any error beeps when you pull out just the ram? If not, is there a system speaker plugged into the 4-pin header? How did you test the ram? Did you run memtest? If so, for how long? If not, run it on a computer that works, with the suspected ram.

You can also try pulling out the video card and listen for error beeps. If you don't hear any error beeps with either all the ram removed, or no video card, then you might need to re-seat the CPU, or your board is bad.

there is not beep when i remove both memory sticks (i tested them with testmem already)

yes, the speaker wire is plugged in just fine.
i ran memtest for like 10 minutes.
the video card works just fine in another computer.
there are no beeps when i remove the mem sticks.

10 minutes is nowhere near enough. For 2GB, you need at least 8 hours, if not more, IIRC.

Did you re-seat the CPU? If you've tried everything, its likely the board is bad, since its not beeping the errors when it should (no ram, no vidcard). Though, re-seating the CPU should help, since it detects the CPU before the RAM or vidcard.

i'll try to re-seat the CPU (and mostly the fan).

If both computers died at the same time (assuming there wasn't a storm at the time), I suggest you get your house's electrical wires checked out (and grounded if its an older house).

the other one was 1 week ago and is in a different house (both were bought 2 months ago tho)
