2 monitors setup...

I bought 2 samsung 27" F27T450 and im using em as expand monitor.
Then i sellected my middel monitor that i want to be the main as prime monitor.
So the left monitor is the expandet one.

But my main middel monitor keeps showing nr.2 and the left monitor is 1.
When i power off the left monitor and only use the main middel. Then i can still drag my mouse pointer to the left where it disapears. Should there not be a boarder for this not to happen when that monitor is powered off. Also some of my windows option is still being shown on the left monitor..this is a mess.

How to i make the middel monitor nr 1 rather than nr 2 ?
I tryed to unpluf em from the pc but nothing helps...

First of all, the numbers on each monitor don't mean anything in terms of which is the primary monitor. Your primary monitor will be whichever is checked as "Make this my main display". The number doesn't matter, #1 does not mean Primary.

As far as windows knowing when your secondary display is turned on or off, I find that this is often dependent on the connection that is used. With a more advanced connection such as Displayport, Windows will usually be able to determine when a monitor has been turned off and will temporarily remove that display. With something like DVI, VGA, or HDMI however, Windows won't always know when a display has been turned off and will continue to operate as if the display is still turned on. I don't know if there is anything you can do in that respect other than switch to using Displayport on the monitor that you are frequently turning off, or disable that monitor in settings when you turn it off.

I see..I had a old samsung monitor connected for a second screen using a displayport. And like you state, then it only showed one monitor when it was powered off.
Now im using hdmi and its like you say...so its a another windows flaw ?

Also whet do people do that have new 4 k monitors with hdmi 2.1 for higher hz rates ?
Do they just leave the second monitor on for good ?
Im all about to save power.

No it's not a "windows flaw". It has to do with the type of connection.

Displayport was designed from the beginning to be a bi-directional connection. When you use Displayport, your computer isn't just sending info to the monitor, your monitor is also sending detailed information to your computer. As a result, your computer "knows" when the monitor has been turned off.

HDMI is an evolution of DVI (which is why you can switch between HDMI and single-link DVI using only a passive adapter). DVI is 20+ years old and essentially a one-way connection, with only very basic information being sent back to the computer. Not at all like Displayport. Although HDMI has evolved considerably from it's DVI-based roots, it still has numerous underlying limitations compared to Displayport. If you have the option of connecting your 2nd monitor via Displayport instead of HDMI, I'd go that route.

Those monitors likely also support the latest Displayport standard and really any time you have a choice between Displayport or HDMI, Displayport is going to be the better choice.

Well windows should turn your displays off after a period of time, and that includes all displays. So you're only talking about power that is used while you are at your computer. It seems rather pedantic to constantly turn certain monitors on and off while you are working at your computer. Windows is pretty good about remembering the previous position of various windows so even if you have a certain monitor turned off you should not have windows popping up on that display unless that's where that window was located before. In that case just turn the monitor back on really quick to move the window.

A good power-saving tip (and a good security tip) is to hit Windows Key + L any time you walk away from your computer. This will lock your computer, and your monitors will turn-off after 60 seconds or so, regardless of what their normal power-off time is. So if you know you won't be back right away, your monitors won't wait an extra 10-20 minutes to turn off automatically.
