2 IDE drives, One SATA drive.......

so i have two 40 gig HDs, and just bought a 160 gig SATA drrive for my NF7-S. Obviously i want to install my OS on my fastest drive, the SATA one. So i start up the windows xp pro installation, i press F6, install the sata drivers, etc etc. The problem comes when the XP installation asks which drive it should format/partition/install itself too. the SATA drive is labeled as E (i want it to be C) , with the two IDE drives as C and D respectivley. So being the clever fellow that people say i am, i set my SATA drive as the primary boot device (with the CD drive before it, and all the other devices disabled for booting) and unplug the two IDE drives. I install XP all swanky-like. boot up, install a few drivers before i remember to plug in my IDE drives. so i shutdown the computer, plug in the drives and BAM, POOSH FWANG..... The computer boots from my old windows installation on the IDE drives..... that's no good....

any help on how to get my SATA drive to be my C drive, and my other IDE drives to be D and E?

I've spent a few hours on this so far....
