just wondering if 2 harddrives in a biostar ideq 210p will be 2 hot to run please let me know if any one is using 2 harddrives in any sff and running ok thanks. and will the power supply be good enough

I had 1 Raptor and 1 80GB SATA in an SB75G2
I Had 2x120GB Drives in an ARIA
and 2x120GB Drives in my new FragBox ....

Yes they get hot, but so does everything else.

Had two hard disks in a Shuttle SN85G4 and now my Aria. As far as the brand of drive, I'll second the Maxtor problem as if you stack those things you are asking for trouble.

I had a Raptor and a regular Caviar in a SB75G2. they got way too hot for me - around 45C, compared to barely over 30C in my Lian Li.

I have 3 drives in my SFF and have had no heat problems. I'm idling around 44c. CPU is around 40c

Just don't put Maxtors in, those POS are gaurenteed to die and get way to hot also.

Ugh... I put 6 250GB SATA Maxtors in a 1TB array (Raid5 w/ hotspare) 3 of them died within 30 days and I lost the array. They run very hot next to each other (almost 50C w/ good airflow) and I could have gotten the Hitachi Deskstars for the same price (which are much better than the old IBM Deathstars) and the hitachi's run MUCH cooler - I've since been buying those instead.

I think from this point forward I'll be using Seagate drives, they run so quiet and have a kick ass 5 year warranty OEM.

I have a Hitachi, it uhm, meows. Really. Scared the crap out me, so I got another Seagate- Hitachi is relegated to OS drive, while Seagate holds the archive, we'll see how long that Hitachi lasts...

All of the Hitachi's make that sound from time to time. I spent ALOT of time on Google tracking it down. It's a 'feature' that is supposed to enhance lifespan.

I've been running a 250 gig Hitachi and a 74 gig Raptor in my SB65 for months. My drives spend most of the time in the mid to high thirties. Of course when I game and my x800 and CPU start cranking out the heat, everything in the box suffers.

I'm so tempted to buy another maxtor 250gb 16mb for my sn95g5, but the hot temps scare me.

I have one 120GB WD and one 160GB Maxtor, both 7200 RPM/8MB. They run about 46C with the fan at 900 RPM - I've set Speedfan to keep an eye on the temps so if there's a lot of disk activity the fan ramps up a little and quickly (surprisingly so) brings the temp right back down again.
Just keep in mind that harddrives are not for permanent storage, only temporary and this applies whether you're running a Shuttle or full ATX case with 10 fans.

thanks guys you all have been a big help i think ill be ok if i get the right second drive i already have a segate 120 sata drive thanks a lot

Two Raptors (36 GB variety) in my SN95G5 and though they get pretty much no airflow, they haven't presented a problem in the 4+ months I've used the system.

i have a maxtor and a samsung.. the maxtor always gets too hot.. it was somethin glike 58c then i took out the 3 1/2 inch floppy bay cover and got it down below 50.. but i am going to yank that thing and stick it in an external enclosure one of these days... hopefully sooner than later...
