Ya, I have, and it was TERRIBLEspite said:Yeah, from what I can see, 4x 512 isnt the way to go. Has anyone tried overclocking on NF4 with 2x1024?
Russ said:Well, ram speed aside, 4x512 will force you to run 2T command rate, which is (I think) about 10-20% slower than 1T. 2x1GB will give you 1T, but your timings (look up a ram timings guide if you have no idea) will be higher, as in 3-3-3 (or so) at speeds comparable to 2-2-2 in 512mb. That's how I think it is at least.
Do they make TCCD 1GB sticks? I'm not sure. TCCD would do better timings at high speeds as compared to normal ram.
Why do you want your ram to be able to hit 300mhz? If you want your proccesor to hit 300mhz, you can just use a divider and keep your ram at 200mhz. 300 is pretty high for ram to get.
I would think that high end 1GB sticks (i.e. PC4000/DDR500 or more) are pretty expensive, although I haven't looked at their prices very much. If you want to be guarenteed 300mhz at the timings that are advertised, you will need to look at ddr600/PC4800 ram. Anyone know of a company's ram that can do anything like this that's not advertised to (as the guarenteed versions are always extremely expensive)?
