2 fans off one connector

If I were to splice two 120mm fans into one fan connector and plugged it into one of the fan power connectors on the motherboard would both fans run at full speed?

Yep, it probably would work, right up untill the trace on the motherboard blew out from being overloaded.

Edit: Just as an example, Single low power 120 mm fan plugged into motherboards CPU fan header blew out the trace on the motherboard, took out a section roughly an inch long of the blue plastic sheath, this was the repair, http://snipershide.us/images/sniper/new_puter_oct_2006/fuckup/fan_fuckup.jpg , piece of wire, some super glue and black tape (stupid conductive pen wouldnt flow).
 
It should work, as long as the two fans don't draw much.

I've to 2 80's and a 120 running off one plug on my board and haven't had a problem with them.
 
Im just gonna splice the two together and run a wire with a molex connector on the end and plug it into a 4 pin connector that way my mobo remains safe
 
i run a 120mm papst and a 80mm cooler master off one connector with no problems.

Good choice.

I can't believe what people will do to save a couple dollars. Instead of buying a fan adapter they risk there $100+ motherboards. the power capacity handling of motherboards have increased however, but there not designed to be running 3 fans off a single header (Private_Ops). I remember when I was useing my 80mm Thermaltake Smartfan on a Volcano HS it came with an adapter to run the fan off a 4pin molex and still have the sensor wire hooked up to the fan header, they did this for a reason, because the fan can draw enough juice to to damage things. Thinking a little farther back I remember horror stories about the 60mm Screaming Deltas that were popping motherboard traces. Sure if your running some uber slow 120s you will probably be safe hooking up 2 of them, but do you really want to risk it to save a couple bucks?
 
my asus mobo is able to supply 24w on one fan connector, so if both connected fans are 1A or less everything is fine.

the cool thing is, that this one connector is temperature controlled so in idle mode, both fan's are only running at slow speed but they speed up when needed. no fan adapter will do that.

i googled a bit and found out that my silent fan's are rated much lower than 1A actually, but i wouldn't recommend running a delta one rated at 34w!! on that connector :eek:
