So I formated my hdrive today after gettin my new computer up and running (3200 @ 2500mhz).. Wanted to do a clean install after I had been tweakin last few days. Anyway.. so i install winxp sp2 and get into windows. I install all my drivers etc. Bout 2 hours later im browsing web and all a sudden I get a blue screen error. I didnt even take care to note what it said.. I assumed it was my overclock which mighta caused it. (although I had been runnin at the current speed stable for 2 days now) anyway.. i reboot.. and i get nothin and it seems as if nothings on my main drive anymore.

So I put in the xp cd.. and I go into the setup.. and brings up my main drive as unpartioned space!?!? So im like wtf.. weird.. ill reinstall windows. Besides the main drive.. i have 2 80gb storage drives which have all my files of importance.. I figured it was just my main drive which had somehow messed up.. but now in windows xp after reinstalling.. only 1 of 2 the 2 storage drives shows up.. when i go to disk management it shows both storage drives there.. but one says its "Dynamic Foreign". I have option to "convert" to basic disc.. Problem is I dont want/cant lose the information on this drive..

My question is.. what in hells name coulda caused this? Blue screen, then 2 drives losing all partition info? Also..what can i do to recover my data?

hmm.. well i found some software that is suposed to recover lost data called getbackdata.. when it scans the file system of the hard drive im tryin to recover it lists it as: "secure file system (peter gutmann) "

i have no idea why it would be converted to this.. does anyone have any clue??

Is this an Athlon XP system or an Athlon 64 system? If it's an Athlon 64 on one of the motherboards that doesn't lock down the PCI bus when you overclock that could definitely be your problem.

You could probably get a lot more help if this was moved to the storage forums, the mods on that forum are really good with data handling and should be able to help you recover things.
