So I picked up an HTC Inspire at no commitment from AT&T 2 days ago and had it in my pocket (along with leather wallet that had no cash or coins just cards) and sat down and when I checked my phone there was a hair line crack on the glass. The phone is pristine and I'm usually good with phones which is why I was completely shocked when I saw it. I am definitely going to AT&T tomorrow but I mean do I even have a shot in the dark with this? When I worked for Apple we were allowed to replace phones that even had spider web cracks in them and I feel the associate will believe me when I tell him the phone did not drop at all because there is no damage anywhere just a hair line crack on the screen. Possibly defective unit? I find it hard to believe that this can happen with such little effort!

Damn, that's fucked. The glass should be stronger than that, I think you got some sort of defect.
I'm really going to push it to the guy at the store. There are other little things I can see such as the phones lines are not clean (bulging at the bottom of the phone). Problem is I cant prove that I left the store with it leaving like this, I'm just hoping they cut me a break its been 2 days!
No it was gym shorts and on my right pocket. I'm usually skeptical about when people post these kind of threads too because I've NEVER had something like this happen until now which is why I'm just so taken back. I'm going to AT&T where I bought it early tomorrow to see if they will let me return and just buy the Atrix and pay the difference.
Already went to AT&T and they wouldnt do anything for me. Even told me the phone had gorilla glass which I wasnt too sure about. The manager is emailing me HTC's information so I can put a request in to them but I bought an atrix while I was there and walked out. First phone I've ever damaged and it was not even from a physically damaging action def makes me not want to stay with the phone.

AT&T will not do anything and HTC will charge you $150 to replace the glass. Usually if your phone's screen is facing forward, and is in your front pocket you can break the screen by bumping into something without you noticing like the corner of a table or something of that matter.

A lot of people carry wallet in front pocket, me included.

I would call ATT's customer service, tell them you are not satisfied with the resolution that you received at that store and that you are wanting to take your services else where and what to know your ETF fee, that should get you to the retention department, from there you should be able to get help. I hate dealing with people at the stores, most of them know way less than I do and are not ethusiastic about helping. ATT has a warranty exchange dept that was very helpful with me when I had to send my captivate in even though I purchased through Amazon. I would not give up so quickly, especially for an Atrix 
Sounds like a decent option.

Also since you bought that Inspire with no contract, they are less motivated to help you.

Not smart I know but they're the only option near me. I guess I just chalked this up as an experience that I'll remember when my contract runs out end of the year.
