heres the deal :)p ) i have 2 older 17 inch crts and was pondering whether or not to put them in horizontal span or keep em in clone as they are currently. theres about a total of 3.5 inches of plastic between the 2 monitors. would that make horizontal span impractical and can my video card even keep up with them like that. the card is in my sig.

why would you even want them in clone? the idea of having multiple monitors is to increase productivity by giving more workspace... You should have them horizontally spanning. And yes, the card is just fine for 2d. There probably isn't a card available now that couldn't do multiple monitors just fine.

yeah i game tho and that was one the issues with it sorry for the poorly worded question, also how do u put monitors in horizontal span , i cant figure out how

when you play a game, unless it's designed to do otherwise or you run in windowed mode, in fullscreen mode it'll simply fill the primary screen only.

As for doing it, you can either go through the ATI control panel, or more easily:

Right click the desktop -> go to properties
Go to the "Settings" tab
you should see two black square representing your screens in the grey area.
Click one of them, probably the left one. It should have a check mark in "use this device as the primary monitor"
click the other black box, check the box that says "extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor"
Hit "apply"

that should do it.
