ok just a little stumped as to what i should do

Corsair DOMINATOR 8GB (4x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz Quad Channel RAM Kit for $100
OR
(4x) CORSAIR Vengeance (1 x 4GB) DDR3 1600MHz $25 each for a total of $100

so is losing 8gb of ram worth the same price for the fancy cosmetics and the cooling performance it brings?
 
No. RAM doesn't get that hot...that being said those are steep RAM prices, I presume you're outside the USA?

I do not recommend getting that memory from eBay for the following reasons:

1) You'll never know whether that RAM is genuine or counterfeit. A lot of new-in-box consumer electronics sold through eBay turned out to be counterfeit.

2) Even if that RAM were genuine, eBay prices are almost always higher than a lot of reputable Web resellers. This is because eBay charges the sellers of those items hefty fees - as much as 9 percent of the advertised price or winning bid. The fees force some eBay sellers to raise their prices - in some cases, even higher than the full retail price of those items!
 
ok so is there any other website i should kno other that newegg tigerdirect and if prices come up even again what would you recommend?
 
On Newegg, 2x4gb RAM is typically in the $35-50 range, depending on speed. There are the occasional sales that drop a 2x4gb set down to the ~$25 range.
