the intel manual says that as long as you have a 38C ambien temp in your case you should be fine......well

My tems are 49c at idle and 53 on load with stock heatsink and ahanix black night case with to 120mm fans

49 at idle and 53 load are actually pretty good temps for a prescott. You're fine.

I agree. Watch out when you try to overclock it though. You will probably want to get watercooling or a better HSF if you want to overclock significantly.

i've overclocked and cooled with a koolance system

my overclock right now is 3.6ghz

idle is 47 and load is up to 57 celcius

I hear Prescotts are excellent for frying eggs and such.

Where are you getting that temp reading from? If it's from the Koolance probe, that's very high.

Remember, you might be defeating the purpose of OC'ing if your OC causes the CPU to throttle itself down to maintain its temp.

That seems kind of high. When I was pushing my 2.8E to 3.5 it topped out about 68 c with a monster sink and fan.

Maybe there is no hope with heat and prescotts

motherboard monitor what else :S
if you knew a bit more koolance systems automatically shut down at 53celcius

and for sure a human being would notice the computer throttling down
