I recently upgraded a PC for someone and instead of throwing their old parts in the recycle bin I screwed and zap-strapped the guts to a piece of wood and for shits and giggles installed Win XP and FAH CPU client to see what the old reference speed would get us. It has been steadily crunching on A4's and gets in the 160-230 ppd range. Current WU: P10720, TPF: 1:39:57, ETA: 6 days 16 hours. Not too efficient for the power usage (or my wallet) so I'm not going to leave it online for long but I thought it'd be interesting to see and compare to the old days before smp and gpu to see how far the project has come. Fold on brothers and sisters with whatever you can.

Not too shabby, the reference machine is supposed to give 110PPD so its doing well!

My first 550,000 points where done this way. Im gonna guess $3,000 to $5,000 in electric. in a 5 years span.

Things sure have come a long way with hardware and scoring: my 4P rig can cough up 230 points in a little over 30 seconds (6903 WU).
