2.4C Ocing Help

Alrite so I got my 2.4C, and I booted up at 250fsb with a 5:4 div and everything was peachy.

Ram: gig of hyperx 3200
Mobo: ic7g
psu: 435w enermax
hsf: zalman cpns 7000cu

I get 35 idle 50~ load


I wanna get past 250 fsb, but I don't know what dividers and what timings ect I should use. i tried it and it beeped in for 4 seconds every 2 seconds.
 
If you want some more exact instructions, here they are....

1) Loosen your ram timings to 2.5-3-3-7 or even looser if you need it... mine are typically 2.5-4-4-8 when I'm finding my max FSB ( I have different ram though, so you may not need to slow it down that much).

2) Using the 5:4 ratio, at 285 FSB ( 275-285 is the 2.4C sweetspot, you typically can get to here with very little increase in vcore) your ram will be running at almost 230mhz, which is around the max oc for most ram..... so I'd recommend raising your vdimm to 2.7ish ( or even higher if you have heatspreaders.... do a search for the max. supported vdimm for your ram that will still be under warranty, and then try raising it to that) to see if that helps.

3) If you're still on stock vcore, try raising by one notch and see if you can make it into Windows... if you do this, though, you'll have to keep an eye on your temps. Try to keep them below 56-58°C load for stability purposes.


After you've found your sweetspot, then you can try lowering your vcore and vdimm ( and/or tighten the timings as well) to find the lowest voltage your overclock is stable at. Remember to run Prime 95 to test if your overclock is stable or not.... you risk HDD corruption if you use an unstable overclock for long periods of time.
 
Max ram voltage is 2.6V. Stock timings are 2 3 2 6

I went to 285fsb and 2.5 3 3 7 timings, with a 5:4 ratio and it still did the beep. And when I get back into BIOS its got a 1:1 and the rem timings are 2.5 3 3 8

I think my fixed rates or something is fuxed, like the 66/33. Can someone tell me wut exactly to put it at?
 
Simple fact is kingston hyper x is not good for overclocking... it has fast ram timeings but thats only good for amd systems not intel. I got a stick of kingston hyperx 3500 and witha 5:4 at lax timeings and voltage at 1.8 i can only get it to 250fsb
 
set it to 3:2, its looser than 5:4, and will let you go higher on lower timing, lower speed RAM... see sig.

Try 1.65V, and take that as high as it will go, then slowly burn in the chip if you wish, but 1.65V will take you a huge way
 
He's talking about setting your ratio to 5:4, which I think you said that your computer was already set to.

i tried 2.5 3 3 8 with 2.7 on the ram 1.65 on cpu and 280 fsb with a 5:4 and still did

anyone know any links to find beep codes for a ic7g?
 
I would suggest upping the memory voltage to 2.8v. Even though your ram may not overclock that well it should certainly be able to do 200-210 and at 5:4 and 250fsb your ram is running stock speed of 200Mhz. Sometimes however the northbridge could use a little more voltage which i think it gets when you up the ram voltage.

You can also use Memtest86 to test your memory for errors at a certain speed (bootable cd so your machine doesn't have to load windows). Also you can test your memory at 1:1 to see how high it can O/C.

From my experience I wouldn't up the vcore more than 1.6v on air, these chips really don't like voltage as much as Athalon XP's, unless of course your supercooled.

Also from my understanding lots of people who got some of the last batch of 2.4c's have had a hard time getting much past 250fsb. I got mine fairly early after release and it will only do 260fsb on air and 270fsb on water. I wish I could get to 275-285.

try 2.8 volts on ram, 280 fsb and 5:4??
