2.4c heat issue

Hi, i bought a 2.4c yesterday with an IC-7 G motherboard

instlaled it, put AS5 on, ( using stock heatsink )

temperatures, 50 idle.

now thats bad. i know that

anwyays, cleaned HSF bottom, and Cpu surface, reapplied AS5 a couple more times, and i only got a 5C drop , so 45 idle, it gest to about 59 load

now i konw somethings wrong just dont know what. i installed 7 fans just to check if it was the airflow, and its not.

so its either...

1. the stock hsf
2. temperature probelm


could the stock heatsink really take my temperatures this high? i had a 3.0c a while ago, with a copper case stock heatsink, and it was idle 30, load 44. but then again that was in the winter in CA.


any thoughts?
 
Not really. For an Abit board subtract 10 degrees from it's temperature. They always read on the high side.

When using an Asus board it's the opposite. Add 10 degrees. They read on the low side.

10 degrees is a huge difference. It's hard to believe that either an Asus or an Abit motherboard would read so incorrectly. What makes you say that?
 
intrestingly that post is quite correct in some ways.

i was testing the temperatures on a p4p800, and a ic7-g.

and the 2.4c chip reads at 45c on the ic7

but it reads at 32-35 on the p4p both at idle.

so comparing it to asus the abit is 10 degrees off.

i also read that abit uses a different system to cacluate the temperature of the CPU, which they believe to be more accurate than the other temperature probing sensor thingamaggigesss.

anyways, i guess its quite safe then.
