Check out my specs of my Pentium 4 system that I have right now. I am buying video card some time soon. But I was wondering if its worth going from 2.4C to P4 3.2E?

i dont think it would be worth it presuming that ur 2.4 can o/c 3.0g+ with ur coolin..
another vote for video card. (unless u dont play games)

I sold my 9800 pro to buy 6800GT. My 2.4C overclocks to 3.4ghz and temp is pretty high. I guess its not worth buying 3.2E. I do a lot of gaming. So I wanted something faster at stock speeds. But I guess for the price, its better to just keep my 2.4C and run it overclocked.

a 2.4c @ 3.2 is faster than a prescott @ 3.2. according to sisofts reference results, my 2.4@3.4 is as faster and sometimes faster than a prescott @ 3.6

I would be against any kind of cpu upgrade for you of any kind. That's basically the best you can do unless you chunk out cash for an EE.

Or go AMD. Not that you'd notice the difference that much.

edit: dude, you want to spend money? You have three sticks of RAM. Buy another 512 so you can run dual channel.

Hmm I just spend money on this ram, so I am thinking all I need is upgrade video card. That's about it. I overclocked my cpu yesterday to 3.4ghz and its load is like 72C. Pretty stable. I guess all I need is video card, probably BFG 6800GT whenever Fry's receives them.

As for dual channel. I thought I read somewhere if you have 2 256 on one slot and one 512. It will run at dual channel. Guess not, because my benchies about 2.5k bandwidth instead of like 5-6k. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on mushkin level 2 to have identical sticks, so I just buy cheapo OCZ's ram for $85-$25rebate.

2.4C for sure
I just built a new system using that processor :D You will end up loosing some FSB, which will hurt u a tad, but realy, there is no difference. Before I got my 2.4C in, I was using my trusty 1.6a @ 2.4 and after moving ot hte 2.4C @ 3.0, I notice hardly any difference. I did pick up 5fps in Doom3 demo1 though, with my 6800GT.

anybody notice he's still running a voodoo 3 2000. i think its time to move on :D

get a matching 512mb dimm and run dual channel, upgrade that video card, and try to overclock.

I sold my 9800 Pro and using voodoo 3 just to use pc. Waiting to get 6800GT. I just overclocked and it runs at 3.4ghz very nicely

That temperature is WAY to high. My 2.4C with my thermalright sp94 and vantec tornado ran at 42C load, and around 36-38 idle. Make sure you applied your ThermalPaste on properly, and that you don't have your fan blowing the wrong way or something. If I ever saw my CPU over 60C, I'd quickly turn off the PC and investigate the problem.

I spread all thermal paste on cpu. Just a little. It's AS5. I dunno why, I even cleaned up my case, but temp of cpu never drop down. Keep in mind, my mobo shows wrong temperature. I got one of the first ones that came out so its not even revision 2 or anything.

I just got my hands on BFG 6800GT OC. Man this thing kicks ass. wooooooooooooooo $386 already with tax.

If I were you I'd just touch the heatsink while the CPU is under load, that'll help you in making sure the CPU isn't really anywhere near it. If the heatsink is cold to the touch, of flaming hot, then the CPU is at high temps. If the Heatsink is cold, then that means either the thermalpaste wasn't applied right, or the heatsink isn't tight on enough. But if it's blazing hot then you maybe need a new higher CFM fan, ot just to lower down your OC.

If you got the money to spend, get a 3.0E or 3.2E. They are under $200.00 now and the D0 stepping of the 3.2E has been hitting 4GHz with air cooling. Use a good hsf though. Like the SP94 or XP120 with a high flow fan.

I have a 3.2E running at 3.8GHz. Temps are 50 idle, but that is due to my cooling. Plus the Prescott is rated to take a higher temp, although I would not recommend going over 70°C.

With that card, you may find yourself CPU limited on what you do with games. The new gen video cards are not the limiting factor until you get past 3.0GHz.
