2 470s or 1 670?

I currently have 2 GTX 470s in SLI. Wondering if I buy a GTX 670, will it be an upgrade. I have one Dell 30" that I do most of my gaming on.

a stock gtx670 would be slightly slower than two gtx470 cards in sli if the scaling was great. so for the real world there would probably be more times where the gtx670 was faster. overall the gtx670 will give you more vram, WAY less power consumption, WAY less heat, WAY less noise, and a more consistent gaming experience even is it does happen to be slower in some cases.

Wow, i did not know that. I have been out of the "game", working too much to keep up with everything. Thanks for the info!!!

I'm at a similar resolution and I definitely found the extra vram to be a benefit. Also keep in mind that you may still be able to get some cash for your 470's and with a single 670 you could always think about SLI later on;), the scaling seems to be pretty awesome with this gen.

670. Two GTX 560 Tis / 570s is a bit faster than a 580. Two 470s is likely not as good as a 670. Therefore, 670 would be a better option for you.

670 easy.... always single > dual unless performance diff is more than 30-50% or need more than single cause of resolution.

I had a pair of 470's that I sold last year due to noise and heat under load. If my GTX 680's are anything to go by, I would say drop the 470's and pick up the 670 just for those factors alone.

670's with non-ref heatsink/fan are near silent and sip power compared to SLI 470. Performance will not be a massive increase but will still be faster. I'm guessing you can get 275-300ish for 2X 470s used? Not a bad trade off IMO.

i upgraded from oced 470s to a stock 670. I'm really happy of the higher framerate (oced 670), low noise and low heat of the 670. My PSU fan rarely spins, my gpu fan top at 40% unless i oc it, and i dont have to run the AC at all time!

Performance might be on par . Buth power consumption, heat, acoustics and the benefits of a single GPU over a multi GPU (no microstuttering ) make the GTX 670 far more superior . its a no brainer. go for the GTX 670.:)

You are not going to see a huge, if any, increase in performance. Personally I wouldn't spend the money for a bit less noise and heat.

I'm with this guy. If you have the money to spend then take the plunge.

I went from two SLI GTX 470's on a Dell 2707WFP to a single GTX 670 and I could not be happier. Much less heat generated, more quiet, and just as powerful. You could also sell the GTX 470's and recoup about half the cost of a new 670.
