after a week of tweaking, i am finally able to run my pc at 200fsb! before this i was only able to do 198fsb.



2500m
512mb pc3200 samsung
a7n8x-e deluxe

vcore: 1.6, vdimm: 2.6, stock ram speeds.

yea unfortunately this chip isnt prime stable at anything below that. its not very warm tho.

SP-97 and a 92mm @ 2600rpm gets me about 45C load with prime95 going. my next step is to try and get the FSB up to about 220 maybe. we shall see ;)

EDIT: cookie for the first one to name the sweet ass :p

That temp reading isn't really 100c is it...if so I'd like you to boil me some water please.

Oh yah, it can be really hard to get those A7N8X's up to 200, its stupid. And they couldn't go past 200 if their lives depended on it (the version 2.0 deluxes can go a little higher I've heard).
 
the a7n8x boards are real picky about the ram you put in em.

I have 2 a7n8x-x boards, and they wouldn't run at 200FSB with kingston or geil, but they like corsair.
 
I am trying to OC my XP 3200+ by changing the multiplyer settings..
It still shows at 2.19GHZ,,What's with that??
My Asus A7N8X Deluxe tops out at 200 MHZ.
Seems like I can't O/C this processor!!?? :mad:

Multiplier locked... all non-mobile bartons are that way, now.
 
I bought and Athlon XP 3000+ 333Mhz from Newegg.com last year. When I got it I put it at 11x200, and it showed up as a 3200+ 2.2Ghz w/ 400Mhz Fsb which seems to work better with my memory. Its very rare but sometimes after I boot I get some artifacts, a secound boot always fixes the problem. My question, is it better to leave the fsb alone and only play with the multiplier? Which one will give better results and performance gains when overclocking

I posted this some where else in amd processors i think, but wanted to see what you guys thought about this.

You can get the A7N8X-E above 200fsb by the way by changing the bios settings, Its in the advanced chipset Features, You will notice "CPU interface" this should be greyed out. I foget what settings open this up, but somthing dose, once you get in there you can take it off optimal. I think this will open up your FSB to go higher than 200 but its been awhile since I have done it, you have to google it some more to get more instructions on the process.

Just FYI... water boils at 100 F not 100 C. 100 C = 212 F

You can boil water at about 38C

that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, you're completely wrong.

Water boils at 100 Degrees Celsius. Some peoples swimming pools are 38 Celsius.

The whole point of celsius is that water boils at 100 and freezes at 0. Way to go.

Tre- You wont be albe to mess with your multipliers as they are locked.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing here in Alabama.... that's probably why the population is lower in the South, all the people dying from their blood boiling. ;)

Thenerd needs to get some better temp sensors... a high of 41°C and a low of 0°C? The diode's even weirder.... how do you even tell when your temps are getting too high?
 
wow i left this topic for 3-4 days and it's still going.

anyways, the temp readings go screwy only in mbm5, i've never had any problems with speed fan. and besides, i'm quite content with my mobo (at least not taking in consideration of the obvious 200fsb problem...)

oh just for a progress report, my comp hasn't crashed yet after the oc :p
